French Fries Ingredients
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 2
Dry the Potatoes
Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove any moisture.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature.
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Toss to coat evenly.
- 6
Serve
Serve the French fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
