Method
Chocolate Lava Cake Directions
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder, then place them on a baking sheet.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
- 3
Mix in Sugar and Eggs
Stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Then, add the eggs and egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 4
Add Dry Ingredients
Gently fold in the flour and a pinch of salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 5
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 6
Bake the Cakes
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft and gooey.
- 7
Serve
Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert them onto plates. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
