Fried Chicken
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken legs and thighs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, place the all-purpose flour. You can add extra salt and pepper to taste if desired.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 165°F or 74°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your choice of two sides.
