Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Boil in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain and return to pot.

  2. 2

    Mash the Potatoes

Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper to the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Sausages

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Remove and keep warm.

  4. 4

    Sauté the Cabbage and Onion

In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add shredded cabbage and cook until wilted and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

    Make the Gravy

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in stout beer and add smoked molasses. Scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze. Simmer until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the mashed potatoes, top with sausages, sautéed cabbage, and drizzle with onion stout gravy.
