Garnish & Aromatics

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare and chill glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice to chill while you build the cocktail. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Combine spirits and sour

In a cocktail shaker, add 1 oz Hard Truth gin, 1 oz cinnamon vodka, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and a handful of ice (about 1/2 cup).

  3. 3

    Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the ingredients are well combined and aerated.

  4. 4

    Strain into glass

Discard the ice from the chilled glass and add fresh ice (crushed or cubed to your preference). Double-strain the shaker contents into the prepared glass to remove any pulp or shards of ice.

  5. 5

    Top with ginger beer

Top the cocktail with 3 oz chilled ginger beer. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to integrate the ginger beer without flattening too much carbonation.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 6

    Brighten and aroma

Express oils from the lemon wheel or twist over the drink by holding it skin-side down and giving it a firm squeeze and a quick twist above the glass, then drop the peel or wheel into the glass.

  2. 7

    Toast the rosemary (optional)

To release the rosemary's aromatics, briefly clap the rosemary sprig between your palms to bruise it, or carefully pass it over a low flame (e.g., a kitchen torch or lighter) for 1–2 seconds until fragrant (do not burn). Place the sprig into the drink as garnish.

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a short straw. Note: adjust ginger beer amount to taste for sweetness and spice balance.
