Tequila Flight - Single Servings
Tools & Glassware
Method
Preparation
- 1
Chill glasses briefly if desired: place tasting glasses in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes beforehand for a slightly cooler serving temperature. Remove and set on a flat surface.
- 2
Arrange tools and palate-cleansers: place a small pitcher of filtered water, the crackers or bread, and lime wedges on a small plate next to the tasting area for easy access between pours.
Pouring & Serving the Flight
- 3
Measure
Using the jigger, measure 1 oz of Lana Blanco and pour into the first tasting glass. Rinse/briefly wipe the jigger if you prefer no cross-contamination between pours.
- 4
Second pour
Measure 1 oz of Don Fulano Blanco and pour into the second tasting glass.
- 5
Third pour
Measure 1 oz of Avion Silver and pour into the third tasting glass.
- 6
Set the three glasses in a left-to-right sequence either by increasing intensity or as labeled: commonly start with the lightest/mildest (Lana Blanco), then Don Fulano, then Avion. Provide each guest with the water, crackers, and lime wedges.
Tasting Procedure
- 7
Observe: Hold the glass by the stem or base and note the color and clarity. All three are blancos/clear; observe viscosity (legs) if present.
- 8
- 9
Sip: Take a small sip and let it roll across the tongue to evaluate sweetness, texture, and agave character. Pay attention to midpalate and the finish. Repeat for each sample, rinsing your mouth with a small sip of water or eating a cracker between samples to reset your palate.
- 10
Finish: Optionally, after tasting, a small squeeze of lime on the tongue or a quick sniff of the lime wedge can highlight citrus or herbal notes in the tequila. Do not overdo the lime—use sparingly so it does not overwhelm subtleties.
