Directions
- 1
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
Brew the espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur.
- 2
Whip the Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and vanilla extract while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- 3
Combine Mascarpone
In another bowl, gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream mixture until well combined, being careful not to deflate the cream.
- 4
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger biscuit into the cooled espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 5
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular or square dish, create a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.
- 6
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone mixture, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 7
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- 8
Serve and Garnish
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings. Cut into squares and enjoy!
