Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Add the active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Flour and Salt
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 6
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 7
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll out the dough into a thin circle approximately 12 inches in diameter.
- 8
Transfer to Baking Sheet
Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 9
- 10
Add Cheese and Seasonings
Evenly spread the mozzarella cheese over the dough. Sprinkle dried oregano, dried basil, and crushed red pepper flakes over the cheese.
- 11
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 12
Cool and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve hot.
