Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti or mostaccioli and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Do not rinse the pasta as you want the starch to help the sauce adhere.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 4
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add the oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
- 5
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 6
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce is ready, add the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Garlic Bread Preparation
- 7
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 8
Make Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.
- 9
- 10
Bake the Garlic Bread
Place the prepared garlic bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
