Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steaks

Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the beef steaks. Let them rest for about 15 minutes to absorb the seasoning.

  2. 2

    Prepare Breading Station

Set up a breading station by placing all-purpose flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second shallow dish, and bread crumbs in a third shallow dish.

  3. 3

    Bread the Steaks

Dredge each steak in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off, then coat evenly with bread crumbs.

  4. 4

    Fry the Steaks

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and let drain on paper towels.

Red Gravy Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 7

    Simmer the Gravy

Reduce heat to low and let the gravy simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
