Burger Patties

Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions, about 4 ounces each. Shape each portion into a patty that is slightly larger than the burger bun, as they will shrink while cooking.

Broil the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat the Broiler

Set your oven's broiler to high and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Broil the Patties

Place the patties on a broiler-safe pan and position them about 4-6 inches from the heat source. Broil for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and broil for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until desired doneness.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the burgers are broiling, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly under the broiler for about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

Once the burgers are cooked to your liking, place each patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices, and cheese slices if using. Add condiments to taste, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
