Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let Dough Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface or stretch it with your hands to fit a pizza pan or stone.
- 8
Add Sauce
Spread a cup of tomato sauce evenly over the surface of the dough.
- 9
Add Cheese and Toppings
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then layer the pepperoni slices evenly on top. Sprinkle dried oregano and black pepper for added flavor.
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the assembled pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- 11
Cool and Slice
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
