Burger Patties
Burger Assembly
Method
Preparing the Patties
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Shape the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions, about 4 ounces each. Form each portion into a round patty, slightly larger than the burger buns, as they will shrink during cooking.
Cooking the Patties
- 3
Preheat the Grill or Broiler
Preheat your grill or broiler to high heat, around 450°F (232°C).
- 4
Cook the Patties
Place the patties on the grill or under the broiler. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.
- 5
Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid or broiler door to melt the cheese.
Assembling the Burgers
- 6
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.
- 7
- 8
Serve
Serve the burgers immediately while hot, with additional condiments on the side if desired.
