Pizza Base

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center, then add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assemble the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 6

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread Ricco's marinara sauce evenly over the base.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle provolone cheese evenly over the sauce, followed by mozzarella cheese.

  5. 9

    Add Toppings

Layer the pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers over the cheese.

  6. 10

    Bake Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 11

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.
