Method
Roasted Garlic Oil
- 1
Prepare the Garlic
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel the garlic cloves and place them in a small, oven-safe dish.
- 2
Roast the Garlic
Drizzle the garlic cloves with olive oil, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and roast in the oven for about 30 minutes, until the garlic is soft and fragrant.
- 3
Pizza Base
- 4
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water (not too hot) with sugar and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 5
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- 6
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 7
Let the Dough Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assemble the Pizza
- 8
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- 9
Prepare the Base
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to your desired thickness on a floured surface.
- 10
Add the Toppings
Spread the roasted garlic oil over the pizza base. Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes, and arrange them evenly over the pizza. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
- 11
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 12
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve hot.
