Method
Pizza Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 7
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a round shape, about 12 inches in diameter.
- 8
Spread Pesto
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza peel and spread the pesto sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 9
Add Toppings
Evenly distribute the grilled chicken, artichoke hearts, mozzarella cheese, and provolone cheese over the pesto layer.
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven or onto the pizza stone. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve hot.
