Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic (from the garlic cloves) and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Chop the Parsley

Finely chop the fresh parsley and add it to the garlic butter mixture, along with the salt and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Slice the Bread

Take the Italian bread or baguette and slice it in half lengthwise to create two halves.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Spread the Garlic Butter

Using a spatula, generously spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.

  2. 6

    Add Optional Toppings

If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan and/or mozzarella cheese over the garlic buttered bread.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Bread

Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet, cut side up, and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted (if added).

  2. 8

    Broil for Crispy Finish

For a crispy finish, switch the oven to broil and broil for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.

Serving

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice into pieces and serve warm.
