Method
Preparation
- 1
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 cups of rice, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes until the rice is cooked.
- 2
Prepare the Meat
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 cup of ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and stir in 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
- 3
Heat the Beans
In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of canned black beans over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until warmed through. You can season with salt and pepper to taste if desired.
Assembly
- 4
Assemble the Burrito
Lay a flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center of the tortilla, layer 1/2 cup of cooked rice, 1/4 cup of black beans, and 1/4 cup of seasoned ground beef. Add any optional toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, or chopped cilantro.
- 5
Roll the Burrito
Fold the sides of the tortilla inwards, then roll from the bottom up to enclose the filling completely. Ensure it's rolled tightly to prevent spilling.
Serving
- 6
Serve the Burrito
Place the rolled burrito seam-side down on a plate. You can serve it with additional salsa and sour cream on the side.
