Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Duck

Score the skin of the duck breasts in a crisscross pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat. Season with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Duck

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the duck breasts skin-side down and sear for about 6-8 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown. Flip the duck breasts and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Remove from the skillet and let rest.

  3. 3

    Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, pour off excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the red wine and bring it to a boil, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Reduce by half.

  4. 4

    Add Orange Flavors

Add the orange juice, honey, orange zest, and thyme to the sauce. Simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir in the butter until melted and the sauce is smooth.

  5. 5

    Serve

Slice the duck breasts and plate them. Drizzle the orange sauce over the duck and serve immediately.
