Method
Preparing the Cream Mixture

Mix the Egg Yolks
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy, about 5 minutes.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until well combined and smooth.

Whip the Cream
In another bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Preparing the Coffee Mixture

Combine Coffee and Liqueur
In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Stir to combine.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom, followed by half of the mascarpone cream mixture. Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and cream.

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
