Directions
- 1
Prepare the Sticky Rice
Soak the glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain and steam the rice in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth for about 25-30 minutes until tender.
- 2
Make the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
- 3
Combine Rice and Coconut Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour about 3/4 of the coconut sauce over the rice. Mix gently to combine, then let it sit for about 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- 4
Prepare the Mango
While the rice is absorbing the sauce, peel the ripe mangoes, remove the pit, and slice them into thin pieces.
- 5
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top it with mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
