Method
Prepare the Tofu

Press the Tofu
Wrap the firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top to press out excess moisture for about 15-20 minutes.

Cut and Coat
After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch mixed with salt until well-coated.
Prepare the Battered Veggies

Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, black pepper, and water until smooth.

Coat the Vegetables
Dip the mixed vegetables into the batter until fully coated.
Fry the Tofu and Veggies

Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan or wok, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry Tofu
Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Fry Veggies
In the same oil, fry the battered vegetables until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve

Plate the Dish
Serve the crispy fried tofu and battered veggies hot with a side of sweet and sour sauce or peanut sauce for dipping.
