Method
Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Peel and Devein Shrimp
Start by peeling the shrimp, removing the shell and tail. Devein each shrimp by making a shallow cut along the back and removing the dark vein.
- 2
Prepare Tempura Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add cold water while whisking until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.
Frying Shrimp
- 3
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Dip Shrimp in Batter
Individually dip each shrimp into the tempura batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 5
Fry Shrimp
Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Honey Sauce Preparation
- 6
Mix Honey Sauce
In a bowl, combine honey, mayonnaise, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Whisk until smooth and well-blended.
Final Assembly
- 7
Coat Shrimp with Sauce
Take the fried shrimp and dip them into the honey sauce, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 8
Add Topping
Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the honey-coated shrimp.
- 9
Serve with Rice
Serve the honey almond shrimp over a bed of steamed rice or brown rice.
