Method

Chicken Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut the Chicken

Cut the boneless chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Coat the Chicken

In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Add the cut chicken pieces and toss until well coated.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then dip each cornstarch-coated chicken piece into the egg.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully add the egg-coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes. Stir well.

  2. 7

    Cook the Sauce

Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 8

    Add Chicken to Sauce

Once the sauce is ready, add the fried chicken bites to the saucepan and toss until they are well coated in the sauce.

  4. 9

    Garnish

Sprinkle chopped green onions over the chicken and sauce for garnish.
