General Tsao Chicken Recipe
Crispy dark meat chicken bites in our sweet and tangy garlic soy sauce. Served spicy. Served with choice of steamed white or brown rice.

Prepare Chicken

Coat Chicken
After marinating, drain excess egg. Dredge the chicken pieces in cornstarch, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Fry Chicken

Heat Oil
In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Prepare Sauce

Mix Sauce Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.

Thicken Sauce
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry. Add this to the saucepan. Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring constantly until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
Cook Rice

In a pot, combine rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
Combine and Serve

Combine Chicken and Sauce
Add the fried chicken pieces to the thickened sauce and stir to coat evenly.

Serve the General Tsao Chicken over a bed of steamed white or brown rice. Enjoy!
