Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Slowly add the beer while whisking until the batter is smooth and thick.
- 3
Heat the oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the fish
Dip the Atlantic cod fillets into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Cook the fries
In the same oil, fry the steak cut fries according to package instructions or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Plate the fish and fries together, serve with tartar sauce and coleslaw on the side.
