Meatballs

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, black pepper, Dijon mustard, and fresh parsley. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Set the meatballs aside on a plate.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate and keep warm.

Braised Red Cabbage

  1. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add the butter and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then add the shredded red cabbage and apple slices, sautéing for another 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add the Flavorings

Stir in the apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and caraway seeds. Mix well and bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Braised Cabbage Cooking

Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let the cabbage cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and the flavors have melded together.
