Tart Crust

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Making the Tart Crust

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Pre-baking the Crust

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough to fit a tart pan and place it in the pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool.

  3. 3

    Making the Filling

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, heavy cream, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

  4. 4

    Assembling the Tart

Pour the maple filling into the pre-baked tart crust.

  5. 5

    Baking the Tart

Bake the tart at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until the filling is set and slightly puffed. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
