Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Take the Porterhouse steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Clean the king oyster mushrooms and slice them thickly.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the Porterhouse steak with salt and black pepper.

  2. 3

    Sear the Steak

Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat and add olive oil. When the oil is hot, carefully place the steak in the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  3. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Cooking the Mushrooms

  1. 5

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add the sliced king oyster mushrooms and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they are golden brown. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste.

Plating

  1. 6

    Serve

Slice the Porterhouse steak and place it on a large platter. Arrange the sautéed king oyster mushrooms around the steak. Drizzle with aceto balsamico before serving.
