Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Add 12 oz of spaghetti or linguine to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making Clam Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  2. 4

    Add Red Pepper Flakes

Stir in 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds.

  3. 5

    Add Clams

Pour in 2 cans of clams with their juice into the skillet. If making white clam sauce, also add 1 cup of white wine. For red clam sauce, add 1 cup of tomato sauce.

  4. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally.

  5. 7

    Finish the Sauce

Add 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir to combine.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 8

    Combine

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the clam sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the pasta hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
