Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti or linguine. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water.

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 4

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

  2. 5

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

  3. 6

    Add Lemon Juice and Parsley

Stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Mix well and cook for an additional minute.

Combining Pasta and Shrimp

  1. 7

    Mix with Pasta

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the shrimp. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

  2. 8

    Serve

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
