Taco Shell Preparation
- 1
Choose Your Shell
Select whether you would like to use soft or hard taco shells for your tacos.
- 2
Warm Soft Shells
If using soft taco shells, warm them in a skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable.
- 3
Prepare Hard Shells
If using hard taco shells, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 5-7 minutes until crunchy.
Filling Preparation
- 4
Cook Ground Beef or Chicken
In a skillet over medium heat, cook 1 pound of ground beef or shredded chicken until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if using beef.
- 5
Season the Meat
Add 2 tsp of chili powder, 1 tsp of cumin, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper to the meat. Stir well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- 6
Prepare Beans and Corn
If using black beans, rinse and drain them. For corn, you can use canned or frozen. Heat both in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes.
Taco Assembly
- 7
Assemble the Tacos
Take the warmed or baked taco shells and fill them with your choice of seasoned meat, black beans, corn, chopped bell peppers, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
- 8
Add Toppings
Top the tacos with sour cream and salsa to your liking.
- 9
Serve
Serve the assembled tacos immediately with your favorite sides.
