Salad Base

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine Lettuce

Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Dry the leaves using a salad spinner or by patting them with a clean kitchen towel. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Cherry Tomatoes and Cucumber

Halve the cherry tomatoes and slice the cucumber into thin rounds. Add both to the bowl with the romaine lettuce.

Crouton Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Croutons

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the slices of bread into small cubes.

  2. 4

    Season the Croutons

In a mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes, olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Toss until the bread is well coated.

  3. 5

    Bake the Croutons

Spread the seasoned bread cubes onto a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Dressing

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, grated Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine Salad Ingredients

Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients in the bowl. Toss gently until all the ingredients are well coated with the dressing.

  2. 8

    Add Croutons and Shaved Parmesan

Top the salad with the baked croutons and shaved Parmesan cheese.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately in individual bowls or on a large platter.
