Bread Pudding
Method
Preparation
Prepare the Bread
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Make the Custard Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, vanilla extract, bourbon, and salt until well combined.
Combine Bread and Custard
Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread, gently stirring to ensure all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is set and the pudding is slightly puffed.
Serve Warm
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream and a drizzle of hot fudge. Optional: Add a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
