Fried Gulf Shrimp

Fried Gulf Shrimp

    Prepare the Shrimp

    In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

    Coat the Shrimp

    Dip the peeled shrimp into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.

    Fry the Shrimp

    Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Blackened Shrimp

    Season the Shrimp

    Coat the shrimp with blackening seasoning evenly.

    Cook the Shrimp

    Melt butter in a skillet over high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until charred and cooked through.

Stuffed Shrimp

    Prepare the Filling

    In a bowl, mix together crab meat, breadcrumbs, garlic, cream cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper.

    Stuff the Shrimp

    Carefully stuff each shrimp with the crab mixture and place them on a baking sheet.

    Bake the Shrimp

    Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the stuffed shrimp for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Shrimp Étouffée

    Sauté Vegetables

    In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

    Add Garlic and Shrimp

    Add minced garlic and shrimp. Cook until shrimp turns pink.

    Add Liquids

    Pour in chicken broth and diced tomatoes, then season with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.

    Serve over Rice

    Serve the shrimp étouffée over cooked rice.

Shrimp Au Gratin

    Make the Sauce

    In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually add milk, whisking until thickened.

    Add Shrimp and Cheese

    Stir in shrimp and cheese, and season with salt and pepper.

    Transfer to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.

Hushpuppies

    Mix Ingredients

    In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and onion. Stir in milk until just combined.

    Fry the Hushpuppies

    Heat oil in a deep skillet. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.

    Remove hushpuppies and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
