Method
Brisket Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Brisket
Trim excess fat from the brisket and season it with smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar.
- 2
Cook the Brisket
Place the seasoned brisket in a slow cooker. Add the beef broth, quartered onion, and whole garlic cloves. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily shreds.
- 3
Shred the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker to absorb some of the juices.
Coleslaw Preparation
- 4
Prepare the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded green cabbage and grated carrots.
- 5
Make the Dressing
In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- 6
Combine
Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots. Toss well to combine, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
- 7
Prepare the BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- 8
Simmer
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
