Cheese Mixture Preparation
- 1
Melt the Cheeses
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine Velveeta cheese and cream cheese. Stir continuously until melted and smooth.
- 2
Add Remaining Ingredients
Gradually stir in shredded cheddar cheese and milk. Continue stirring until all the cheese is melted and the mixture is creamy.
- 3
Incorporate Seasonings
Add diced tomatoes with green chilies, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and heat through for about 5 minutes.
Tortilla Chips Preparation
- 4
Prepare the Oil
In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
- 5
Cut the Tortillas
While the oil is heating, cut the corn tortillas into triangles (about 6 pieces per tortilla).
- 6
Fry the Chips
Carefully add tortilla triangles to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Season the Chips
Sprinkle salt over the hot tortilla chips while they are still warm.
