Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully combined. Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl.

Breading

  1. 3

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each ring is evenly coated and set them aside on a baking sheet.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully add the breaded onion rings to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown, turning halfway through for even cooking.

  3. 6

    Drain the Onion Rings

Using a slotted spoon, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Warm

Serve the fried onion rings warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing or ketchup.
