Method

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 2 cups of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur for added flavor.

Prepare the Cream Mixture

  1. 2

Whisk the Egg Yolks and Sugar

In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 large egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  2. 3

    Add Mascarpone and Vanilla

Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

  3. 4

    Whip the Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 5

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the cooled espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

In a 9x9 inch dish, arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.

  3. 7

    Repeat the Layers

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream mixture.

  4. 8

    Chill and Serve

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
