Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes or until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with the olive oil. Stir until a rough dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Flatbread Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a baking stone or baking sheet inside to heat.

  2. 7

    Shape the Flatbread

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece out on a floured surface into a flat, round shape about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 8

    Add Toppings

Brush each flatbread with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic powder, fresh rosemary, and sea salt.

  4. 9

    Bake the Flatbread

Carefully transfer the flatbreads onto the hot baking stone or sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed up.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flatbreads from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
