Focaccia Ingredients

Method

Focaccia Directions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until combined, then knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Pan

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet or a large baking pan with olive oil.

  5. 5

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to the prepared pan. Stretch the dough to fit the pan, dimpling the surface with your fingers.

  6. 6

    Add Toppings

Drizzle olive oil over the top, sprinkle fresh rosemary and coarse sea salt to taste.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the pan with a cloth and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  9. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm alongside the salad.
