For the Aloha Burger Patty

For the Pineapple Mustard

For the Taro Buns

For the Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Taro Buns

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, combine the mashed taro, flour, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and knead until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Shape and Cook the Buns

Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal portions and shape them into buns. Steam the buns for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.

Make the Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, mix the ground Wagyu beef with teriyaki sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Grill or pan-fry the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until they reach your desired doneness. Place a slice of American cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Prepare the Pineapple Mustard

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard, pineapple juice, and honey. Mix well and set aside.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each taro bun, place a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, and a generous amount of pineapple mustard. Top with the other half of the bun and serve.
