Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the butter is melted.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly add the all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated and smooth.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

Frying the Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe and Fry

Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Coat in Sugar

In a shallow bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the fried churros in the sugar mixture until fully coated.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 9

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat, add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and let sit for 1-2 minutes. Stir until smooth and fully combined. Add vanilla extract and stir again.
