Grits

Honey Biscuit

Method

Grits Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of grits and 1 tsp of salt. Stir well.

  2. 2

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the grits are thick and creamy.

  3. 3

    Add Butter

Once cooked, stir in 2 tbs of butter until melted and well combined.

Eggs Preparation

  1. 4

    Beat the Eggs

In a bowl, crack 4 eggs and beat them with 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of pepper until well mixed.

  2. 5

    Cook the Eggs

In a skillet, melt 1 tbs of butter over medium heat. Pour in the beaten eggs and gently scramble until cooked through. Remove from heat.

Bacon Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet, cook 4 slices of turkey or beef bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Honey Biscuit Preparation

  1. 7

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 8

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tbs of baking powder, and 1 tsp of salt.

  3. 9

    Cut in Butter

Add 1 tbs of cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 10

    Add Wet Ingredients

Stir in 2 tbs of honey and 3 ml of milk until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 11

    Shape and Bake

Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
