Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients needed for the sandwich.
- 2
Assemble the Sandwich
Lay two slices of rye bread on a clean surface. Spread 1 tablespoon of Russian dressing on each slice. Layer with half of the sauerkraut, followed by 4 oz of smoked corned beef brisket, and 2 slices of Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining sauerkraut. Close the sandwich with the other two slices of rye bread, dressing side down.
- 3
Grill the Sandwich
In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once melted, place the sandwich in the skillet. Grill for 4-5 minutes until the bread is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich, adding the remaining butter to the skillet if necessary, and grill the other side for another 4-5 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 4
Serve
Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing it in half. Serve warm with extra Russian dressing on the side.
