Lemon Bar Ingredients

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crust

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and 0.5 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in 1 cup of flour and 0.25 tsp of salt, mixing until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x9 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Bake the Crust

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In another mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, 0.5 cups of granulated sugar, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, 0.5 tsp of baking powder, and 0.25 tsp of salt until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine and Bake

Pour the lemon filling over the baked crust and return to the oven. Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden.

  5. 5

    Cool and Serve

Allow the lemon bars to cool completely in the pan before dusting with powdered sugar and cutting into squares. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
