Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cutting the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soaking the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Preheating the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil reaches the right temperature.

  4. 4

    Frying the Potatoes

Remove the potatoes from the water, dry them thoroughly with a kitchen towel, and fry them in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Seasoning

While the fries are still hot, season them with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.
