Method
Burger Patty Preparation
- 1
Season the Beef
In a bowl, season the 8 ounces of Kansas beef with salt and black pepper, mixing well to ensure even seasoning.
- 2
Form the Patty
Shape the seasoned beef into a round patty, ensuring it is slightly larger than your bun to account for shrinkage during cooking.
Cooking the Patty
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 4
Cook the Patty
Add the beef patty to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms. Flip the patty and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness, or until your preferred doneness is achieved.
Assemble the Burger
- 5
Prepare the Bun
While the patty is cooking, slice the buttery burger bun in half and toast it lightly if desired.
- 6
Add Toppings
Once the patty is cooked, place it on the bottom half of the bun. Top with romaine lettuce, pickles, and slices of red onion.
- 7
Add Cheese
Finally, place the cheese slices on top of the toppings. You may melt the cheese by covering the skillet for a minute or so before assembling.
- 8
Finish Assembly
Cap the burger with the top half of the bun and press down gently to hold everything together.
