Method
Prepare Taco Shells
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of salt, and gradually add 1 cup of water. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a clean cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
After resting, divide the dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle about 6 inches in diameter.
- 4
Fry the Tacos
Heat 4 cups of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry each taco shell for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Prepare Filling
- 5
Cook the Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- 6
Season the Beef
Add 2 tbs of taco seasoning and 1 cup of water to the beef. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the water has evaporated and the mixture is well combined.
Assemble Taco Basket
- 7
Fill the Tacos
Take each crispy taco shell and fill it generously with the seasoned ground beef mixture.
- 8
Add Toppings
Top each filled taco with a dollop of sour cream and a spoonful of salsa.
- 9
Serve
Arrange the filled tacos in a basket. Serve with a side of tortilla chips and additional salsa.
