Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all your ingredients. Make sure the corned beef is sliced, the sauerkraut is drained, and the Swiss cheese is ready to use.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 2

    Layer the Sandwich

Take two slices of rye bread and spread 2 tablespoons of Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice.

  2. 3

    Add Corned Beef

On one slice of bread (dressing side up), layer 4 oz of corned beef evenly.

  3. 4

    Add Sauerkraut

Top the corned beef with 1/2 cup of drained German sauerkraut.

  4. 5

    Add Swiss Cheese

Place 2 slices of Swiss cheese on top of the sauerkraut.

  5. 6

    Close the Sandwich

Place the other slice of rye bread on top, dressing side down.

Grilling

  1. 7

    Heat the Pan

Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat.

  2. 8

    Grill the Sandwich

Add a little butter or oil to the pan, then place the sandwich in the skillet. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

Once grilled, remove the sandwich from the pan and let it rest for a minute. Slice it in half and serve hot with extra Thousand Island dressing on the side if desired.
